Passports

My first passport is missing; this is my second one. The one I used when I left New Zealand in 1996 and traveled around Europe. It has my UK work permit and some great visas from places like Egypt, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Slovakia.

This one was used for our 2002/2003 round the world trip. It had twelve pages added to it and is completely full, even though I only used it for about a year and a half. This one is my first truly tattered passport.

I had to switch to a machine readable passport after our round the world trip so this one was created in London. It has the same photo as the previous one but is the first that can be swiped like a credit card.

This is the one that will take me past the 100 country mark. Sadly though, the Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand now only issues passports for five years instead of ten.  This one has already taken me to the Guyana's and Cuba and has some fantastic visas including Suriname, Cape Verde and Liberia (but I'm unlikely to use the Liberian one).

  1. Let's hope the NZ government decides to change the passport life to 10 years like most other countries, instead of as a revenue gathering excercise!
